The award is given to an individual or company that has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to advancing the sustainability and environmental aims of Lighting Council Australia.

Haneco Category Manager Wins the 2023 Young Achiever Award

Haneco Lighting is thrilled to announce that our very own Mitchell Whittaker has been recognised for their outstanding contributions to the lighting industry.

A Passion for Lighting Innovation
Mitchell’s lighting journey began in 2011 at a leading lighting company. Despite initially being overlooked, his impressive background in mechanical engineering, particularly his expertise in REVIT, caught the attention of a key decision-maker. This marked the start of a remarkable career dedicated to lighting innovation. During this time, Mitchell honed his technical skills and gained a deep understanding of the lighting industry.

Dedication and Leadership
Mitchell’s dedication didn’t stop there. After graduating with a Master of Design Science (Illumination) in 2015, he transitioned to product management within the lighting industry. This role allowed him to combine his technical knowledge with a passion for developing luminaires that enhance lives, improve environments, and create safer spaces. Over the years, Mitchell progressed into a leadership role, overseeing a team and a wide range of product categories. His leadership resulted in the development of an award-winning outdoor luminaire in 2021, alongside ongoing advancements in optics for reduced light waste and energy-efficient street lighting solutions.

$10k Raised for Breast Cancer Network

Thanks to Haneco, at this year’s National Awards for Excellence in Lighting there was a very special prize up for grabs, a two-night stay at Sydney’s latest 5-star hotel-the W, which was officially opened on October 12 2023.

All guests attending the event had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for this prize. Ticket sales exceeded expectations, and with proceeds going towards the Breast Cancer Network Australia we’d like to thank all attendees for their overwhelming generosity.
