StarTrack takes a lot of Lighting

StarTrack is a large Australia Post business with facilities at Chullora in Western Sydney. Parcels can now better find their way around the country with the help of new lighting from Haneco.

A lot of lumens

The carparks are now lit by twenty-eight 200W PARX floodlights. The huge parcel processing facility needed an extraordinary two hundred and eighteen 200W (backed up by seventeen 120W) LED SKYPAD highbays each pumping out 28,000 lumens. That’s a lot of lumens.

Comfortably matched

StarTrack Chullora used to be lit by metal halide highbays. They certainly weren’t helping to establish Australia Post’s green credentials and no doubt were costing a small fortune to run and maintain. Their replacement with LED means that StarTrack’s carbon footprint and power bill have now been seriously diminished. But not the light levels. Not only do the SKYPAD LEDs comfortably match the output of metal halide, they maintain their ouput over an incredible period of 50,000 hours.

Mutual benefit

But it’s not just the superior energy efficiency and longevity of Haneco’s LED products that secured substantial savings on this project. The sustainability of the new luminaires is recognised by the NSW government who have approved them as appropriate products to attract rebates via the IPART carbon abatement scheme. The details of the certification were managed by On Point Compliance to everyone’s mutual benefit.

Look to the future

The contractors were the highly reputable Stowe Australia, who were impressed by the quality of the Haneco fittings and happy with their performance. More and more parcels are being distributed from StarTrack Chullora as online shopping goes from strength to strength. Haneco are pleased to have been involved in such a large project that looks to the future in more ways than one.
