Airtasker have declared that an amazing 84% of 18 to 24 year olds polled on its website say that they do not know how to change a lightbulb. Young people visiting Airtasker are hardly a good representative sample of millennial practicality, but it is still surprising that any group of adults could have an overwhelming majority admitting to such an abject level of DIY skills. How could they be so pathetic? Well, the likeliest answer is that they just don’t do household tasks. They’re still at home where they don’t have to bother themselves with such troublesome chores.
But perhaps the question is out of date and irrelevant. There is obviously still a place for retrofit LED bulbs, but the world is changing very rapidly and new houses without bulbs to replace already exist. The answer to the question “Can you change a lightbulb?” is “What lightbulb?”.
